The start of every new season is the perfect opportunity to change out your closet. Usually you get a few new things, that are either in-style or just new, just because. But how do you make room for all your new purchases? What seems like a daunting task can really help get you organized and de-clutter your mind. So, step up to the plate and take the “Closet Clean-out Challenge” with these four steps!
1. Make some tough decisions
Follow the one year rule. Are there pieces of clothing that you haven’t touched in a year? Then it’s time to part ways. What are the chances you’re going to wear it now if you haven’t already?
Try it on! If it doesn’t fit, or you don’t like the way it looks, it’s time to kick it to the curb.
2. Invest in staple items
Stock up on items that can transition from season to season, like tees, tanks, cardigans, knee-length skirts, and pants. Check out these three transitional outfit inspirations that flow with the change of the seasons.
3. Stash your Summer clothes
Some items are easy to transition from season to season, however, there are some that are strictly meant for Summer. Store it away out of your closet, so that the items suitable for this season are easily accessible on the fly.
Once you’ve whittled down your closet to make room for some new garments (we get it… once you see an item that catches your eye, you’ve just got to have it!), make a plan to get rid of the items you no longer need.
CC Tip - We’re got just the solution where you can give a little, and get a lot!
Bring your gently used clothing to Cornwall Centre. For every 5lbs of clothing you donate, you’ll receive one ballot to enter to win a $500 shopping spree! The more you donate, the more chances you have to win!
Items can be dropped off at the Guest Services desk (on the Main Level across from Sears) between October 17th and 23rd. All donations go to the National Diabetes Trust Clothesline Program.
